Group Guidelines and Expectations

1. To participate in this group you must be 18 years of age or older.

2. Confidentiality
  • Everything you hear and the identity of everyone at this group must stay in the meeting and cannot be shared from one week to the next or outside of this group setting.
  • The exception to confidentiality is when we suspect or have knowledge that someone is in danger of harming self or others, or if there is suspected abuse of a child, an elderly person, or a person with a disability.
  • Please note that signing in serves as your agreement to re:MIND’s policy regarding confidentiality.
3. Facilitator Role
  • In re:MIND groups, facilitators do not provide therapy.
  • It is the facilitator’s role to keep the group focused and ensure everyone has time to share. At times, facilitators may need to interrupt a participant in order to ensure that the group ends on time.
4. How Best to Share/ Courtesy
  • Show respect for the group by arriving on time and staying for the entire group.
  • Please allow the person sharing to finish before providing feedback, if feedback is welcomed.
  • Comment on your current moods, feelings, thoughts, and challenges, rather than sharing detailed information about your past.
  • re:MIND groups are not therapy, and the peer support model works most effectively when we share about our own experiences, rather than telling others what to do.
5. Trying re:MIND groups
  • Participants report that the longer they attend, the more they benefit.
  • We hope that you will come several times before determining if this group can help.
  • You may find it helpful to try more than one group.
