Who will lead the group meetings? All meetings are led by a professional facilitator who has caregiving experience. Their role is to help keep the meetings running smoothly. Read more about the facilitators here.
What is the structure of each group meeting? While each meeting might differ slightly given the needs of the group, typically they will start off with brief introductions, an exploration of the meeting topic, and then open discussion for caregivers to share about the issues that are most important to them that day.
Is this a training? While each meeting will start off focusing on a topic related to caregivers or caregiving, like stress reduction or mindfulness, the goal is to spark conversation and sharing among participants and is not intended to be a formal training like those taught by an instructor. The goal of each meeting is to provide caregivers the opportunity to support, encourage, and problem solve with one another. There will be the opportunity to share resources, including available continuing education, Benefits Group programs, or other supports related to the topic of each meeting. Will I be expected to share personal information? There are no expectations for how much or little you share during a meeting, although we do ask that you use your device’s camera to join in the video component. Some meetings you might want to show up and just listen. Others, there might be a lot you would like to discuss. Beyond the expectations which will be covered each meeting by the group facilitator (in order to establish respect and trust in the meeting) you may participate in any way that feels right for you, that day.
