What are WomenHeart HeartSisters Online meetings?
WomenHeart Support Networks are designed to empower women with heart disease by providing support and key heart health information specific to women. Each meeting covers a new educational topic to help women make healthy lifestyle changes as they continue on their emotional and physical heart journey of recovery. They are peer-led by WomenHeart Champions, passionate and committed heart disease survivors, who share the experience of women living with heart disease and have been trained to support and empower other women with heart disease.
What is a WomenHeart Champion (support group leader)?
WomenHeart Champions are women heart disease survivors who have made the selfless commitment to become leaders in their communities and providers of the much needed support for other women living with heart disease. Each WomenHeart Champion is selected through a competitive application process to attend the prestigious WomenHeart Science & Leadership Symposium at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, which trains women heart disease survivors in the science and medical aspects of heart disease as well as key aspects of providing peer support. WomenHeart Champions lead in-person and online Support Networks, participate in community health fairs, expos and panels, serve as National spokespersons on heart disease in women, advocate for women’s heart health policies on Capitol Hill and much more!
Does WomenHeart offer other patient support and educational services?
Yes, in addition to Support Networks, WomenHeart has several other programs specifically designed for women with heart disease. All WomenHeart programs are free of charge. For a complete listing of WomenHeart’s peer programs for women, visit www.womenheart.org/thrive.
